Shared Health leads the planning and coordinates the integration of patient-centered clinical and preventive health services across Manitoba. The organization also delivers some province-wide health services and supports centralized administrative and business functions for Manitoba health organizations.
In collaboration with the Manager, Diagnostic Services and the Educational Coordinator, the incumbent is primarily responsible for teaching, monitoring, and evaluation of the clinical skills of Ultrasound students. The incumbent also assists in the scheduling of the students’ clinical rotations and ensuring the students obtain as much practical scanning experience as possible, and for providing timely oral and written student progress reports. Functions in the capacity of a general duty sonographer when not scheduled with students in order to maintain existing scanning skills and learn new techniques.
- Experience in General Ultrasound and Echocardiography.
- Five (5) years’ professional experience in a Health Care setting.
- Experience in teaching and/or certificate in education preferred.
- Experience working with Radiology Information System and Picture and Archiving system.
- Post-secondary degree or diploma in Radiography, Nursing, Nuclear Medicine or similar related technical field.
- Diagnostic Ultrasound Training Certificate.
- Registered Diagnostic Medical Sonographer (RDMS) or (RDSC).
- Active member with the Canadian Society of Diagnostic Medical Sonographers, American Registry of Diagnostic Medical Sonographers and Canadian Association of Registered Diagnostic Ultrasound Professionals.
- Current Basic Life Support Certification.
- Province of Manitoba Class 5 Driver's License, and access to a personal vehicle to provide service within Prairie Mountain Health.
- Basic Current Life Support Instructor course preferred.
- Evidence of continuing education/professional development.
- Must be competent with Windows based programs (Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook).
