ABA Associate

(1) Permanent Full-Time Position 1.0 FTE (35 hpw)

OSSTF-PSSP 2 - $51,490 to $81,083 per annum

Effective: October 2024

Position Summary:

Reporting to the Supervisor of ABA and Behaviour Resource Services, the ABA Associate works under the direction of qualified ABA Specialists to implement approved ABA programming in support of students experiencing social, emotional, and behavioural difficulties.

Major Responsibilities:

Under the leadership of the ABA Specialist with the identification of a student's learning needs, the ABA Associate will:

Gather and/or provide information to measure and monitor ongoing student progress through direct and indirect data collection, data analysis, and data review

Implement behavioural interviews and functional behaviour assessments

Provide recommendations related to the area of ABA strategies

Develop and implement behaviour management plans

Support skills training and capacity building via instruction, modeling, and coaching

Provide short-term, intensive support to students (individually and small groups) in order to implement ABA Specialist recommendations

Consult to school teams and assist in developing student’s safety, self-regulation, and other adaptive behavioural skill repertoires including providing school and families with materials, references or resources

Create programming materials and departmental resources

Participate in the development of ABA and Psychoeducational materials and the delivery of professional training/education

Participate in the development and delivery of educational training materials for direct delivery to student groups (e.g., classroom)

Participate in multidisciplinary team coordination meetings, action planning meetings, and case conferences/team meetings, as required

Liaise with Teachers, Principals, Board personnel, parents and outside agencies as appropriate

Maintain electronic clinical records as per departmental procedures

Qualifications and Experience:

Successful completion of a post graduate diploma in Autism and Behavioural Science or related and/or equivalent post graduate ABA coursework (e.g., RBT program)

Advanced 3 year College Diploma - Behavioural Science, Child and Youth Worker or equivalent

2 - 3 years academic or clinical experience with children across the range of exceptionalities and implementing BCBA-supervised behaviour plans

Experience with implementing Behaviour Skills Training, BMS/CPI, AIM, and PFA-SBT is considered an asset
