Salary: $64,935 - $76,322

The York Region District School Board (YRDSB) supports a flexible working culture and currently provides the opportunity for employees to work from home in addition to working in the office for some positions. In compliance with Board policies and procedures, responsible in assisting the Quality Assurance Department in the examination of school records, including examination of school bank account records, petty cash submissions, supporting documentation and reconciliations to resolve issues relating to the management of school funds.

Major Responsibilities:

To provide support to Board staff on school banking including, financial practices and managing School Generated Funds (non-Board funds) and Petty Cash bank accounts, cash pick-ups and deposits.

To analyze financial data gathered from individual schools to determine the source of accounting errors leading to out of balance accounts.

To review petty cash records, including balancing bank accounts, reimbursement requests and original documentation to recommend steps necessary to bring petty cash balances in agreement with Board allocations.

To monitor school petty cash submissions to the petty cash allotment and investigate variances.

To provide telephone and in-school support to school Administrators and clerical staff on issues relating to school finances and the application of Board policies and procedures.

To work with other Quality Assurance staff in the delivery of year-end processes for school generated funds and petty cash funds in SchoolCash.NET.

To monitor and analyze transactions which have not been reconciled.

To provide support to schools and departments on NAV concepts, including creating and viewing purchase requisitions and reviewing and analyzing budget reports and lines.

To provide support to the Business Assistant, Assistant Manager, Quality Assurance and Manager, Quality Assurance as necessary.

To perform other duties as assigned.

Line of Responsibility:

Responsible to the Quality Assurance Analyst.

Education, Experience, and Qualifications:

A two year college diploma in business administration or a related discipline is required, or equivalent, as approved by the Board.

Minimum three years in an accounting or business environment or related experience is required.

Effective verbal and written communication, interpersonal, analytical, organizational, computer and general accounting skills are required.

Ability to deal effectively with a variety of individuals and groups both within and outside the Board is required.

Important Information for CUPE 1734 Members:

LA.11.7 Those twelve (12) month employees filling vacancies as a result of their applying to a job posting are to remain twelve (12) months at their position. Ten (10) month employees are to remain in their position until the end of the school year. This requirement can be waived with permission from the Superintendent responsible for Human Resource Services. This does not prevent employees from applying for a position or from applying for a promotion during the twelve (12) month period.

LA.7.4 Those transferred to positions not covered by this Agreement, will retain their seniority accumulated in the bargaining unit for a period of twelve (12) months, or up to twenty-four (24) months by mutual agreement of the parties, and if transferred back into the bargaining unit within the agreed upon period, they shall be credited with all previously accumulated seniority within CUPE 1734, provided that no bargaining unit employee who has completed his/her probationary period shall be displaced as a result of such transfer. Parties may jointly agree to extend past the 24 months upon mutual agreement between the Board, the Union and the Employee.

As a condition of employment, successful candidates will be required to submit a current original Police Vulnerable Sector Check (PVSC) from the police jurisdiction in which they reside or an Enhanced Police Information Check (EPIC) through Sterling Backcheck prior to commencing employment with the Board. The PVSC and EPIC documents are only valid if issued within the last six months. Candidates are not advised to obtain this document prior to an offer of employment.
