Located on the Traditional Territory of the Kwanlin Dün First Nation and Ta'an Kwäch'än Council, our public schools in Whitehorse are operated by three school authorities: Yukon Education (), First Nation School Board () and Commission scolaire francophone du Yukon ().

Together, we are looking for teacher on calls for the 2024/2025 school year.

Our teacher on calls replace regular classroom teachers or education assistants on an as needed basis. They are responsible for delivering set lesson plans, maintaining the positive learning climate of the school, managing students and expectations in the classroom and broader learning environments, and collaborating with other educators as needed to ensure the success of the students in their class. Supervising students during recess/lunch breaks as well as participating in arrival and dismissal duties may also be part of the daily responsibilities.

Qualifications and Experience:

  • High School Diploma
  • Experience working with children in a school or childcare setting
  • Bachelor of Education (Elementary, Middle or Secondary) degree, or equivalent training would be an asset
  • A valid Teacher Regulation Branch Certificate, or in progress would be an asset



Desired Knowledge, Skills and Suitability:

Candidates should have and may be assessed on their:

  • Ability to understand and effectively carry out general oral and written instructions with a minimum of supervision
  • Ability to communicate effectively using courtesy and tact in the explanation and exchange of information
  • Ability to determine, judge and select appropriate course of action within limits of established methods and procedures
  • Knowledge of spoken and written French is required for positions with CSFY
  • Knowledge of and sensitivity to the culture and aspirations of Yukon First Nations students as well as a culturally diverse student population
