F.H. Collins Secondary School is currently seeking a passionate educator to join our dynamic learning community. F.H.C is a dual-track English/French Immersion school serving approximately 780 students in grades 8 through 12. We provide students with a diverse range of academic, athletic performance, outdoor/experiential, trades, and arts programs. Located in the capital city of Whitehorse, Yukon, F.H.C sits alongside the Yukon River on the traditional territory of the Kwanlin Dün First Nation and Ta’an Kwäch’än Council. QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE:



Please clearly demonstrate on your cover letter and resume, how you meet the following qualifications and experience:

  • Bachelor of Education or equivalent with university courses in Science and/or Math
  • Recent classroom experience teaching science and/or math at the secondary level
  • Recent experience with differentiated instruction and principles of inclusion
  • Recent classroom experience using competency-based instruction and evaluation

DESIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND SUITABILITY:

Candidates should have and may be assessed on their:

  • A knowledge of and sensitivity to the culture and aspirations of First Nations people of Yukon and a culturally diverse student population
  • Experience working with, and effectively supporting, students with learning difficulties
  • Ability and interest in working to support whole school goals beyond the classroom (e.g., sports, experiential opportunities, clubs)
  • Demonstrated ability to differentiate instruction using current competency-based assessment, curriculum, pedagogy and practice;
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to work positively and collaboratively with students, parents, school staff, leadership, and the school community
  • Experience incorporating First Nations ways of knowing, doing and being into science and/or math;
  • Ability to adapt and modify strategies and curriculum to meet a range of learning abilities
  • Willingness and ability to teach all relevant Learning Standards and foster an experiential learning philosophy;
  • Superior classroom management, planning and organizational skills;
