Under the supervision of the Design Manager, the Mechanical Design Engineer will be responsible for Designing electro-mechanical systems and developing exciting mechanical products. Various tasks that the Mechanical engineer will be involve with include concept generation, product specification development, components selection, structural analysis, cost reduction, design for manufacturing, drawings creation and review, release to production. He will also review and support of prototypes and production build of small to large assemblies.

Role & Responsibilities

  • Design mechanical parts and assemblies for enclosures and mechanical systems using 3D CAD software.
  • Ensure products are designed in compliance with customer’s specifications.
  • Preparation of 2D mechanical drawings using SolidWorks.
  • Selecting components and materials to meet the functional and aesthetic design requirements.
  • Prepare Bills of Materials for internal production line and external clients.
  • Work with vendors to review designs and selection of components.
  • Support Production to troubleshoot assembly and fabrication problems.
  • Participate in team Brainstorming sessions.
  • Support technical writers in the creation of technical documentation.
  • Transfer knowledge about designed product to production team.

Prerequisites

  • Bachelor of Engineering in Mechanical Engineering.
  • Minimum of 5 years of engineering experience in product development.
  • Technical aptitude with hands-on approach to engineering.
  • Knowledge of engineering and manufacturing practices.
  • Proficient skills in 3D design using SolidWorks are essential.
  • Knowledge of technical aspects of mechanical and electro-mechanical systems.
  • Experience in weldments and sheet metal are essential.
  • Understanding of Geometric Tolerancing & Dimensioning (GD&T).
  • Detailed oriented and strong organizational skills.
  • Excellent time management skills, able to manage competing priorities.
  • Advanced spoken and written bilingualism (French - English) - an asset.
