The Assistant Superintendent of Schools reports to the Superintendent of Schools/CEO and collaborates with the Senior Management team to advance the District's vision and mission. This role is pivotal in supervising and leading elementary, middle, and secondary schools.

Guided by the Districts strategic plan, the Assistant Superintendent defines and implements long-term goals, strategies, and initiatives; oversees school plans; and monitors progress. To uphold the quality of educational programs and advance our commitment to equitable and inclusive schools, the Assistant Superintendent actively engages stakeholders, champions innovation, and cultivates both individual and team leadership. In this dynamic role, you will be at the forefront of driving educational and operational excellence.

We are seeking a courageous and resilient leader who:

  • Possesses exceptional interpersonal skills and the ability to apply a systems lens to issues, opportunities, and change. Has a strong background in instructional leadership and resource management.
  • Engages stakeholders in a shared vision and actionable strategy to support a meaningful learning experience that acknowledges social, cultural, and economic diversity.
  • Is excited about the potential of AI and other emerging technologies to transform education.

Qualifications

  • A Masters degree in a relevant field
  • Membership in good standing with the Teacher Regulation Branch
  • Successful leadership experience in public school system, preferably at both the school and district levels. Secondary experience will be considered an asset
  • Strong understanding and practical application of teaching and learning pedagogies.
  • Knowledge and recognition of Indigenous education and reconciliation practices.
  • Experience leading a range of educational priorities.
  • Ability to build an effective leadership team and create a positive adult learning environment.
  • Systems sensibility, political awareness, and change management skills.
  • A demonstrated ability to make complex, ethical decisions in service of students.
  • A solid understanding of public education governance.
  • The ability to lead with optimism.
  • A strong understanding and appreciation for technology and innovation including AI.
