Job Summary & Responsibilities
As a Kindergarten to Grade 5 traditional school, South Poplar operates within the Public School System, and follows the prescribed curriculum and regulations of the British Columbia Ministry of Education. The staff is committed to creating a learning environment that will ensure the on-going success and well-being of all our students. It is our intention to equip our students with the very best academic base and to provide them with opportunities in technology, athletics, leadership and the arts.
The starting annual salary for this full-time Elementary School Teacher position ranges from $61,838 to $108,458, with placement on the July 1, 2024 Teacher Salary Grid based on length of service and qualifications in accordance with the collective agreement.
Education & Experience
- Elementary teacher training with major practicum at the Primary level
- Coursework in Early Childhood Education
- Successful teaching experience at the Primary Level
- Eligible for B.C. Certification
- Satisfactory teacher evaluation and/or final practicum reports
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
- Ability to demonstrate thorough knowledge of the Primary program
- Ability to demonstrate thorough knowledge and recent experience with a balanced literacy program including guided reading and assessment.

- Assessment & Coaching: Utilize balanced assessment and feedback to improve student learning including the use of formative and summative assessment strategies.
- Collaboration & Teamwork: Collaborate with others to achieve group goals and objectives
- Caring & Inclusiveness: Create and maintain an environment that is caring, inclusive and supportive of all students
- Flexibility & Adaptability: Demonstrate flexibility in the ability to adjust and adapt to changing circumstances
