Job Summary & Responsibilities

The success candidate for this position will be responsible for students within the Resource Room program who have complex needs. The case load supports students in grade 9-12 working towards an Evergreen Certificate. The candidate will work with 12-14 students assigned within the resource room in a mix of inclusive classrooms and 1:1 support. The candidate will be responsible for creating an EA schedule for 8 EA L2s that support the diverse and complex needs of students within the room. In addition, the candidate will meet with parents to create IEPs along with regular care team meetings.

The successful candidate will teach Learning Support Services, Science 9 and Science 10.

The starting annual salary for this full-time Secondary School Teacher position ranges from $61,838 to $108,458, with placement on the July 1, 2024 Teacher Salary Grid based on length of service and qualifications in accordance with the collective agreement.

*This opportunity is a temporary UFN contract, which is subject to change or cancel before June 27, 2025. In the event the teacher returns to work (work-hardening, part-time, full-time) before the end of the school year, the duration and/or FTE of this temporary assignment will be amended. The successful applicant must accept the reduced work week (amended to a part-time contract) but will have the option to remain in a temporary 1.0 FTE contract by working as a Priority TTOC on other days until June 27, 2025.

Education & Experience

Major/minor or diploma in Inclusive Education, Science

Practicum and/or work experience in Special Education at the Secondary level

Experience teaching Science at the Secondary level

Case management experience required

Training and experience with Level B Assessments (ie. KBIT2/KTEA III)

Successfully complete and maintain non-violent crisis intervention certification

Eligible for B.C. Certification

Satisfactory teacher evaluation and/or final practicum reports
