The Role: 

The ML SDK team Installer tool team is responsible for designing and developing installer tools used with AMD Instinct Accelerators. The individual will be part of a development team that analyzes, develops, tests, and deploys software installer tools to support AMD the leading platform for HPC and AI/Machine learning applications.  

 

The Person: 

As a Software Tool Development Engineer on our team your key responsibility will be to design, develop, validate and maintain installers for Linux Device Drivers, APIs, and SDKs for current and future generations of AMD Graphics Processing Units (GPU) and Accelerated Processing Units (APU). 

 

Key Responsibilities: 

  • Design and implement Installer tools for new AMD GPU/APU products 
  • Design and expand build tool functionality to support new HW, SW or OS specifications 
  • Reproduce, debug and resolve issues with specific hardware and software contexts 
  • Develop and implement test applications and quality assurance programs 
  • Work with cross functional teams to further increase the solution lead between AMD and the competition 

Preferred Experience: 

  • Strong Shell/Python Scripting skills 
  • Working experience in developing installers / deployment tools & Packaging tools 
  • Linux System admin experience is an asset 
  • Troubleshooting ability to triage and root cause issues 
  • Experience developing software in Linux environment including commonly used tools 
  • Familiarity with open source and Linux community development practices and collaboration.  
  • Knowledge of software engineering practices for the full software development life cycle, including coding standards, code reviews, source control management, build processes, testing, and operations. 
  • Familiarity with Git, Remedy, Jira

ACADEMIC CREDENTIALS:  

  • Bachelor’s or Master's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or equivalent
