Reporting directly to the Director of Labour Relations the Labour Relations Coordinator is responsible for the day to day trades labour relations functions for industrial projects. Utilizing conflict resolution, negotiation and relationship building skills to collaborate with key leadership and union partners on labour and employee relations initiatives and processes. They will support various projects within the industrial Group in the resolution of labour disputes, grievances, and work stoppages to avoid construction schedule delays.

What You'll Do Here

  • Administer daily labour relations activities and provide data and guidance to Managers on project teams
  • Provide data and support with regard to labour relations matters involving discipline, performance, attendance management and other conflict situations;
  • Maintain and update labour relations records and documentation
  • Assist in meetings with appropriate union officials to discuss such items as the resolution of labour and jurisdictional disputes, workforce shortages, referral of apprentices, etc.
  • Advising supervisors, managers and Human Resources colleagues on the interpretation of relevant policies, collective agreements, legislation and other terms and conditions of employment, ensuring that all relevant legislated, collective agreement and policy driven obligations are met
  • Engaging key stakeholders in developing labour relations strategies; conducting research and developing and maintaining good working relationships with union partners.
  • Work with the Labour Relations team on research, preparing reports and presentations on labour relations activities
  • Attend project sites, trade conferences, and events, as needed
  • Support to maintain current copies of all applicable trade and jurisdictional collective agreements
  • Assist in bids and proposals by preparing and providing insights and reports into:
    • Labour Strategy
    • Manpower Availability
    • Project Labour Agreement
    • Target Market Recovery
  • Other duties as required

What You Bring To The Team

  • Currently enrolled in labour relations or a related educational program.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Excel, Word and PowerPoint.
  • Collaborative team member with excellent interpersonal skills to converse with industry stakeholders.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to review large amounts of information and confidently summarize key points
  • Highly motivated with a positive attitude, and excited to take on challenges.
  • Familiarity with collective agreements is an asset.
  • Ability to work effectively in a team and autonomously to manage tight deadlines and multiple priorities;
  • Ability to exercise sound judgment, discretion, tact and a high degree of confidentiality;
  • Strong presentation, facilitation and administrative skills;
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
