We are currently searching for a Labour Relations Specialist reporting to the Senior Manager, Labour Relations. This position will also provide support to other Advisors and Managers within the Labour Relations department.

Responsibilities:
  • Responsible for all queries pertaining to employee movement for IAMAW portfolios
  • Process any and all-movement transactions related to The IAMAW bargaining unit by reviewing internal lists and data to ensure the process is consistent with Company policies and language outlined in the collective agreements.
  • Work directly with the operations and Human Resources on various movement related initiatives including but not limited to transfers, promotions, demotions, layoff, recall, vacation and backfill requirements.
  • Provide reports to senior and local management regarding status of staffing requirements, recall and/or layoff status by base, location and classification.
  • Communication with relevant stakeholders for external hiring and follow-up, communicate with Recruitment Office for coordination of interviews
  • Ensure all unionized lists such as transfer, promotional, recall and seniority lists are properly maintained and updated accordingly. Liaise with the appropriate stakeholders to ensure the integrity of these list are retained.
  • Research and prepare correspondence in response to queries related to employee movement.
  • Attend meetings and conference calls regarding staffing, layoffs and recalls.
  • Assist the Managers in the day-to-day interactions with the Unionized representatives as well as front line Managers as it relates to collective agreements (IAMAW).
  • Oversight over IT eTool applications and provide continuous support to Managers and unionized employees with respect to these applications. Support any eTool initiatives such as development and testing and provide recommendations for future eTool enhancements and improvements.
  • Liaise with Union representatives to promote a cooperative and effective relationship in handling issues related to employee movement.
  • Provide support on various Labour Relation initiatives and projects as well as being responsible for updating internal LR SharePoint, documents, files and list.
Qualifications
  • Post Secondary Education in a related field (Ex. Industrial Relations or Human Resources) or equivalent experience and education working in a multi-unionized environment
  • Excellent organizational and analytical skills with demonstrated attention to accuracy and detail.
  • Strong sense of operational urgency.
  • Judgement, initiative and discretion
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
  • Strong knowledge of Microsoft Office applications
  • Knowledge and experience working with HR systems or databases.
  • Strong ability to work under pressure with minimal or no supervision.
  • Ability to establish work priorities and perform to meet deadlines.
  • Sound decision making skills.
  • Knowledge and experience working with collective agreements would be considered an asset.
  • Ability to work extended hours and weekends to meet deadlines.
