Description
Reporting to the Manager, the Administrative Support IV is responsible for performing a range of clerical duties to support the operations of the various diagnostic areas. This position plays a key role in helping to foster the team environment by performing bookings of various diagnostic imaging exams, facilitating communication between nursing, other departments, patients and families while maintaining confidentiality of patient information and providing a variety of clerical support duties. The role of the Administrative Support IV includes duties such as scheduling diagnostic appointments (internal and external), greeting and registering patients, assisting with general support duties within the department - including photocopying, faxing, answering the telephone, address patient inquires and relaying messages; completes documentation and may contact other departments to communicate urgency of ordered diagnostic tests; Accountable for the accurate and timely transcription of physician orders; Contact and advise patients of upcoming appointment dates/times and any preparation necessary. This is a weekdays days position with the possibility of a shift time and rotation change as required.
As an Administrative Support IV, you will require advanced administrative or specialized skills and knowledge to support complex procedures, practices and initiatives within a department or program.
Some post-secondary education.
Completion of an accredited Unit Clerk Course or equivalent training program. 1 year acute hospital experience in a clerical capacity. Demonstrated high functioning time management skills. Demonstrated ability to prioritize in a rapidly changing environment. Demonstrated effective interpersonal and communication skills through computer, verbal and written means, in a professional and mature manner. Demonstrated proficiency in computer skills - knowledgeable of Microsoft Office applications. Demonstrated ability to successfully establish relationships with both patients and families and engage them in their care. Minimum 1 year related and recent acute care DI experience. Proficiency in Connect Care, Netcare, and IMPAX.
