Description
Working Collaboratively with the Site Manager for Big Country Hospital, you will hone your leadership skills and provide day to day support in the planning, organizing, coordinating and evaluating of direct patient care in the ED/Acute Care/LTC and Integrated Home Care at Oyen. Your experience and understanding of Rural Acute Care/ED and Continuing Care Health Service Standards and practices will support your success as the clinical lead for a dynamic team of care providers. You will work closely with a Site Manager and thus you will have the benefit of mentorship and support as you grow into the AHN role. This role encourages the use of creativity, quality improvement processes and change management strategies. Oyen is a welcoming and vibrant small town with a strong community that provides excellent support to local health care initiatives.
As an Assistant Head Nurse, you will be responsible for staff assignments, patient flow and acting as a role model, clinical resource and advocate for nursing staff. In addition to providing frontline nursing care, as required, you will take a leadership role in the promotion of quality patient care and the implementation of operational priorities. Your in-depth knowledge and skills, advanced judgment and clinical experience, will assist in providing solutions for complex health care issues at all levels with patients, interprofessional teams, administrators and policy makers. You will play a key role in providing safe, quality patient and family centered care while reflecting the shared vision and values of AHS.
Completion of an accredited nursing education program. Active or eligible for registration and practice permit with the College of Registered Nurses of Alberta (CRNA). Current Basic Cardiac Life Support - Health Care Provider (BCLS-HCP). Charge Nurse role experience in a Rural ED and/or Acute Care setting. ACLS/BLS, interRAI Excellent communication and leadership skills in a multi-disciplinary team with a focus on complex case management as it related to Rural Discharge Planning, DSL/LTC Case Management.
TNCC, Foundations in Emergency Rural Nursing, Leadership Essentials in Rural Nursing, Quality Improvement Experience and Change Management experience, Seniors Health Case Management & interRAI experience
