Description
Under the direction of the Manager, CDC Provincial Immunization Program, and under the authority of the Medical Officer of Health, the Associate Manager - Provincial Immunization, Clinical Support, provides leadership and guidance to virtual teams of registered nursing staff that support the provincially-funded immunization program. As a key member of the leadership team, this position will apply expertise to assist at the zone and provincial levels in developing, standardizing, and monitoring the Alberta Immunization Program as indicated in the Alberta Immunization Policy. In addition, this position will apply expertise to coordinate development and implementation of clinical resources, response strategies and strategic service planning and performance measures to build capacity within the program to respond to changing immunization needs.
This position is responsible and accountable for providing the direction, team leadership and organization over the activities related to provincially funded immunization programs across Alberta in support of the vision, mission and business plan of Alberta Health Services. This position is responsible and accountable for making unit-level decisions and having direct leadership responsibility for the oversight and management of the Provincial Immunization Clinical Support team, which consists of Assistant Head Nurse and Registered Nurse positions. Cross coverage for the Associate Manager, Provincial Immunization Program, Operations (Adverse Events Following Immunization and Provincial Partner Oversight) will be expected.
Baccalaureate Degree in Nursing, Health Promotion, Public or Population Health, or a related field. Registered with the applicable professional association or college. Front-line experience in Immunization within the last 7 years. A minimum of 3 years in a supervisory capacity. Ideally experience will be related to immunization in an organization of significant size, complexity, and diversity. Demonstrated clear pattern of professional and personal development. Demonstrated ability to work virtually.
Demonstrated excellent leadership, organizational, analytical, and decision-making skills. Demonstrated high standards of professionalism and diligence with the ability to work in a fast paced, stressful, challenging environment. Exhibit exceptional verbal and written communication skills, without the need for scripting. Demonstrated proficiency with the following applications: SharePoint, Excel, Outlook/email, Word, MS Teams, Connect Care. A demonstrated clear pattern of professional and personal development. A demonstrated ability and comfort with decision making responsibilities, coaching, teaching and the ability to inspire and build confidence in others. Knowledge of change management and quality improvement practices. Exhibit strong time management and prioritization skills, with a demonstrated ability to function effectively within a stressful and evolving work environment. Experienced in auditing, reporting and monitoring key metrics. Exhibit strong ability for attention to detail. Comfort working in a virtual environment. Be self-directed, action-oriented, demonstrate quick problem-solving abilities and critical thinking skills.
Previous managerial or leadership experience within the AHS Communicable Disease Control Program or AHS Public Health.
