We have an exciting opportunity for a Clinical Supervisor in the Children, Youth & Families, Community Addiction and Mental Health Services (CYF AMH) portfolio. This advanced level, clinical position works with CYF AMH Community Clinic teams to provide addiction and mental health services for clients with complex needs and provides expert clinical support and consultation to team members. This position will take a lead role in providing clinical practice supports to clinicians; planning, developing, coordinating, and implementing quality improvement initiatives in Community Clinics; orienting and enhancing therapeutic competencies within the clinician group; and monitoring, evaluating, and responding to clinical outcomes. The Clinical Supervisor may also provide direct client care through group facilitation, providing individual and family interventions to a small caseload, and providing support for Walk-In services. This position provides leadership in and facilitation of broader program development, service planning, staff development, clinical skill competency evaluation, and service area evaluation and research activities. This position will support the Learning & Development Clinic, and various Youth Addiction Services Programs/Teams and will split time between the East Edmonton Health Centre and the Nexus Business Park locations. This position works days with the potential for some early evening work when facilitating groups and in response to potential future changes in clinic hours. To be successful in this role you will have effective communication, strong critical thinking, reflective practice and a collaborative mindset. This position reports to the Program Manager for CYF AMH Community Mental Health Services.

As a Clinical Supervisor, you will provide clinical supervision for a discipline, practice area or service sector supporting clinicians to provide excellence in professional practice and enable quality, patient and family-centered care. In this clinical leadership role, you will provide clinical supervision to staff providing addiction and/or mental health services to individuals, families, and groups. This role involves supervision related to a range of assessment, mental health (psychosocial and psychological interventions), and other activities. You will be required to supervise regulated staff requiring supervision to meet the regulatory requirements for practice, and/or to unregulated staff providing the restricted activity of psychosocial intervention. This may include observing clinical sessions, reviewing clinical documentation and written reports, conducting team case consultations and offering support, and providing guidance and direction to clinical staff with challenging and urgent cases in a timely manner. In your role, you may work with members of the interdisciplinary team, psychiatrists and community partners in support of effective professional and collaborative practice. You may contribute to the planning, implementation and evaluation of mental health treatment services in a hospital setting or community. You may also identify and address gaps in clinical practice as well as facilitate addressing of system level gaps and risk management issues. You may provide support to leadership in the hiring, orientation and performance evaluation of clinical staff.

Master's Degree in Psychology or Social Work. Active or eligible for full registration (not provisional) with College of Alberta Psychologists (CAP) or the Alberta College of Social Work (ACSW). A minimum of 5 years' experience in providing mental health assessment and intervention, including restricted activity of psychosocial intervention.

A minimum of a master’s degree in Psychology, Social Work, Occupational Therapy, or Nursing. Registered Social Workers must be authorized to perform psychosocial interventions and designation as a Clinical Social Worker is preferred. Registration in a professional regulatory body in Alberta as defined by the Health Professionals Act (CRNA, CRPNA, ACOT, CAP, ACSW). Current BLS. A minimum of 5 years of clinical experience in addiction and/or mental health, with at least 3 years of clinical experience in child and adolescent addiction and/or mental health, preferably in a community-based setting. Advanced knowledge and skill in addiction and/or mental health assessment and intervention, including experience in group facilitation. Experience in program development, implementation, and evaluation.

Experience using an electronic medical record. Course work and/or training specific to Clinical Supervision. Experience in supervision. Leadership experience. Experience with child and adolescent mental health therapeutic interventions such as CBT, EMDR, DBT and Solution-Focused Therapy. Experience with Addictions. Experience with Neurodevelopmental diagnoses.
