Description
This position is part of the Lethbridge Youth Treatment Center, based in Lethbridge. This site is located on the North Side of Lethbridge and provides a range of evidence-based services that support bed-based programming for youth ages 12-17 with Substance Use Disorder and co-occurring Mental Illness. Youth will remain in the program for approximately 12 weeks, and during that time receive counselling (individual and group), attend community-based experiential activities, and participate in schoolwork. The Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) works as part of a multi-disciplinary team, and is responsible for medication administration, day to day assessments as needed, and medication management within the program (including twice-daily medication counts, Medication Reconciliation and Medication Administration Record creation). The LPN supports the team in consultation and enhances the team’s capacity. The LPN would provide Restricted Psychosocial activities as eligible with the support of regulated staff members on shift. This position has transitioned to Recovery Alberta effective September 1, 2024. As a Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN), you are part of an interprofessional health care team utilizing nursing processes, critical thinking, problem solving and decision making skills. You will be guided by your education, experience, demonstrated skill level and AHS policies and procedures. You will play a key role in providing safe, quality patient and family centered care while reflecting the shared vision and values of AHS.
Completion of an accredited practical nurse education program. Active or eligible for registration and practice permit with the College of Licensed Practical Nurses of Alberta (CLPNA). Current Basic Cardiac Life Support - Health Care Provider (BCLS-HCP).
Non Violent Crisis Intervention.
Any outdoor, watersport or climbing certification. One year experience providing care to Youth in a bed-based care setting. One year experience providing care to individuals with addictions. Class IV.
