The Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) department at the Red Deer Regional Hospital Centre is offering an exciting opportunity for a Magnetic Resonance Imaging Technologist I seeking a career in a dynamic MRI department in central Alberta. This MRI department is a vital component of the services offered in the Diagnostic Imaging Department. Members of the MRI team provide a full scope of MRI service 7 days a week and perform over 7000 exams annually. The MRI Technologist I is responsible for producing high quality imaging with a patient and family centered care focus. The MRI Technologist I is responsible for applying learned MR safety practices with respect to pre-screening, which involves investigation of implanted devices, prior surgeries and patient consultation.

As a Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) Technologist I, you will produce and record magnetic resonance images for interpretation by a Radiologist or Cardiologist for the purpose of diagnosis and tracking of disease and pathology. You will produce high quality diagnostic MRI images as ordered by a Physician, prepare and position patients for examination, review patient history, explain procedures, respond to the physical and psychological needs of patients throughout the scanning procedure, and maintain MRI equipment.

Completion of diploma from an accredited Medical Resonance Imaging (MRI) Program required or completion of certificate from an accredited MRI Technologist program plus a diploma from an accredited Program in Medical Radiology, Diagnostic Medical Sonography (Ultrasound), Nuclear Medicine or Radiation Therapy. Active or eligible for registration with the Canadian Association of Medical Radiation Technologists (CAMRT). Current Basic Cardiac Life Support - Healthcare Provider (BCLS-HCP).

Venipuncture Authorization. Ability to apply learned skills to screen patients for appropriateness for an MR study. Demonstrated proficient organizational, technical, interpersonal, and communication skills. Demonstrated ability to work independently and in a team setting. Demonstrated tact, courtesy, and professionalism with patients, and other member of the health care team. Excellent computer skills.

Completion of the Medication Administration Authorization for Diagnostic Imaging Technologists module and the Central Venous Access Device Use Authorization Program for Diagnostic Imaging Technologists preferred.
