Description
Responsible for providing quality service to the clients of Diagnostic Imaging Services in an effective, efficient, and safe manner. As a member of the Diagnostic Imaging team at South Health Campus and South Calgary Health Centre MRI, this position is required to work all shifts and on-call, as assigned. Key pillars of service: Collaborative Practice, Wellness, Patient and Family Centered Care, and Innovation. These pillars guide the development and delivery of service of to all patients and families at SHC/SCHC.
As a Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) Technologist I, you will produce and record magnetic resonance images for interpretation by a Radiologist or Cardiologist for the purpose of diagnosis and tracking of disease and pathology. You will produce high quality diagnostic MRI images as ordered by a Physician, prepare and position patients for examination, review patient history, explain procedures, respond to the physical and psychological needs of patients throughout the scanning procedure, and maintain MRI equipment.
Completion of diploma from an accredited Medical Resonance Imaging (MRI) Program required or completion of certificate from an accredited MRI Technologist program plus a diploma from an accredited Program in Medical Radiology, Diagnostic Medical Sonography (Ultrasound), Nuclear Medicine or Radiation Therapy. Active or eligible for registration with the Canadian Association of Medical Radiation Technologists (CAMRT). Current Basic Cardiac Life Support - Healthcare Provider (BCLS-HCP).
Member in good standing and current registration/eligible for registration with the Alberta College of Medical Diagnostic and Therapeutic Technologists (ACMDTT). Proficient technical and computer skills. Good organizational skills and ability to assume responsibility. Demonstrates initiative, accountability, good judgment and concern for detail and accuracy. Able to work under pressure and in emergency situations. Practices effective infection prevention control and MRI safety techniques as applicable Able to work confidently both independently and within collaborative partnerships/teams. Possesses good interpersonal and communication skills. Able to demonstrate tact and courtesy in dealing with patients, staff, and physicians.
Enhanced Practice in Medication Administration through ACMDTT. Enhanced practice in Venipuncture through ACMDTT.
