Are you passionate about caring for children needing specialized cardiac surgery and care? Would you enjoy working with a team that serves all children requiring cardiac care across Western Canada? Do you have clinical pediatric or cardiology experience to contribute to the Pediatric Cardiology team? Alberta Health Services (AHS) offers an exciting opportunity to join the Stollery Children’s Hospital as a Nurse Practitioner - Pediatric Cardiology in Edmonton, Alberta. The Stollery Children’s Hospital is Western Canada’s referral center for pediatric cardiac surgery and a national leader in organ transplantation. Since its opening in 2001, the Stollery has been a specialized site providing the best care for children with complex needs. Nurse Practitioners in the Cardiac program play a key role in providing continuity of care within the multidisciplinary team. The Pediatric Cardiology program offers care for children with: Medical disorders and cardiac complications. Congenital cardiac defects requiring surgery and ongoing care. Heart transplants or therapies like LVAD and Berlin Heart. Interventional and electrophysiological procedures. As a Nurse Practitioner, you’ll work independently and collaboratively with a clinical team to contribute to medical care, diagnosis, management, and evaluation, while supporting policy development, education, and clinical research.

As a Nurse Practitioner (NP), you will provide a full range of comprehensive health services to individuals across their lifespan. You will be responsible for integrating clinical skills associated with nursing and medicine to assess, diagnose, order, and interpret diagnostic tests, prescribe treatment, and perform procedures to manage and meet the health needs of patients. Additionally, you will utilize advanced practice nursing competencies related to Clinical Practice, Leadership and Optimizing Health Systems, Education, and Research to increase care quality, promote appropriate use of health services, and inform and influence healthcare systems. Successful completion of an approved Nurse Practitioner program, with a minimum of a Master's degree. Active registration with the College of Registered Nurses of Alberta (CRNA) on the Nurse Practitioner Registrar, including Provisional Graduate Nurse Practitioner licensure. Current Basic Cardiac Life Support - Health Care Provider (BCLS-HCP).

Master of Science in Nursing Degree supplemented by completion of a recognized Nurse Practitioner Program in the Child Health stream. The NP is responsible for ensuring that his/her registration is current, valid and entered on the NP Roster of the CRNA under the Health Professions Act. A minimum of 3 years of full time (or equivalent number of hours) clinical Pediatric or Cardiology experience as a Registered Nurse.

Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) certification. Pediatric Cardiology Registered Nurse experience. Pediatric Nurse Practitioner recent graduates from an accredited program will be considered.
