Description
The SHC has four key pillars of service: Collaborative Practice, Wellness, Patient and Family Centered Care, and Innovation. These pillars are guiding the development and delivery of service of to all patients and families at SHC. Reporting to the Unit Manager, the Registered Orthopedic Technologist (ROT)/Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) in the Emergency Department you will work as an essential member of the South Health Campus Emergency Department team caring for both adult and pediatric patients of varying acuity.
As an Orthopaedic Technician (Ortho Tech), you will apply, adjust, and remove casts, splints and traction equipment utilized in the care of orthopaedic patients (clients, residents). You will observe, monitor, report and document changes in the patient's physical, mental and emotional state, while providing safe and effective, quality care. You will play a key role in providing safe, quality patient and family centered care while reflecting the shared vision and values of AHS.
Completion of an accredited Licensed Practical Nurse education program. Active or eligible for registration with the College of Licensed Practical Nurses of Alberta (CLPNA). Completion of an accredited specialty Orthopaedic Technician program. Current Basic Cardiac Life Support - Health Care Provider (BCLS-HCP).
Current certification with Canadian Society of Orthopedic Technologists (CSOT).
Calgary Zone Adult Emergency/Urgent Care ROT/full scope LPN experience preferred; other Emergency/UC experience will be considered. Post-LPN immunization certification and registration with CLPNA preferred.
