Description
Central Production Facility (CPF), is an offsite facility located in Northeast Calgary that provides services to the AHS pharmacies within the Urban and Rural Calgary Zone. Our services include but are not limited to, sterile and non-sterile compounding, unit dose oral solids and liquid prepackaging and inventory procurement and distribution. Core duties may include, but are not limited to: Setup, preparation, repackaging and final product checking of sterile/batching compounded preparation (required to lift up to 30lb, required to work with arms extended for sustained periods of time push/pull carts). Setup, preparation and checking of non-sterile compounding (repetitive wrist and hand movement required). Setup and final check of oral solids, liquids, Non-sterile compounding and prepackaging. Setup, preparation and checking of Total Parental Nutrition (TPN). (Required to lift up to 30lb and occasionally 50lb, required to work with arms extended for sustained periods of time and repetitive hand and wrist movement required). Setup, preparation and checking of Automated Packaging medications using PacMED and PacVision. Picking and checking patient specific compounded sterile preparations. (Required to bend repetitively and lift up to 30 lb.) Performing and completing daily operations efficiently, accurately and safely within strict timelines. Providing guidance to and assisting with the training and orientation of staff and students. Maintaining a high standard of performance through completion of internal validation programs that assess proficiency in identified tasks such as aseptic technique and final product checking.
As a Pharmacy Technician I, you will be responsible for the preparation and distribution of pharmaceutical products. You will receive and triage medication orders, compound and repackage medication and prepare sterile and non-sterile pharmaceutical products.
Completion of a CCAPP-accredited Pharmacy Technician Training Program. Active or eligible for registration with the Alberta College of Pharmacy (ACP) as a Pharmacy Technician.
Required to compound sterile preparations and work with arms extended for sustained periods of time. 1+ years’ experience sterile compounding within the last 5 years. Required to lift from 30-50 pounds, bending repetitively, push/pull carts. 2+ years’ Prior hospital or Central Production Facility experience within the last 5 years. Demonstrated communication (verbal and written), interpersonal, organizational and problem-solving skills. Demonstrated ability to work in teams. Demonstrated computer or word processing skills Committed to continual personal quality improvement and lifelong learning. Critical thinking, problem solving.
1+ years’ experience with non-sterile and sterile compounding and batching (within the last 5 years). 1+ years’ experience with BDM computer program, order entry (within the last 5 years). 1+ years’ Checking Certified (within the last 5 years). 1+ years’ experience with TPN Compounding (within the last 5 years). 1+ years’ experience with PacMed and Pac Vision (within the last 5 years). Membership with a pharmacy professional organization preferred.
