Are you looking for an opportunity to grow your Physiotherapy training and experience while making a real impact on the lives of Albertans fighting cancer? Cancer Care Alberta (CCA) is currently searching for a Physiotherapist I (PTI) to join our team at the Grande Prairie Cancer Centre (GPCC). Our state-of-the-art cancer care centre provides specialized, local cancer treatment and rehabilitation services to patients in northern Alberta. The PTI will thrive within a supportive, interdisciplinary oncology team that is dedicated to ensuring safe, efficient, evidence-based, patient and family-centered, outpatient rehabilitative care. The PTI is responsible for the assessment and treatment of patients as well as development, implementation and evaluation of treatment programs according to professional practice standards, program development and evaluation, student supervision and staff education. Our team of passionate health care professionals are dedicated to enhancing the quality of life of those affected by cancer by providing comprehensive support and care from the time of cancer diagnosis, throughout treatment and beyond by leaders in cancer diagnosis, treatment, survivorship and palliative care. Specifically, you will join a progressive team of Allied Health Professionals that include OT, PT, SLP, TA’s and more that continuously collaborate to provide the best care for patients and have opportunities for ongoing mentorship. Please note there can be flexibility in scheduling, working hours or FTE for this position that also meets operational requirements. Please note this position will be eligible for relocation expense reimbursement up to 10% of the annual base salary in accordance with organizational policy.
As the Physiotherapist I (PT), you will provide therapeutic interventions to enable clients to achieve optimum physical function and independence in development, disease, disability, chronic conditions, illness and functional decline. You will provide intervention (i.e. prevention, triage, screening, assessment, diagnosis, goal setting, treatment, management, education, consultation, fostering resourcefulness, case management, referral and transition support to individuals, groups, populations and communities. You will include clients and families as integral members of the health care team, encouraging their active participation in all aspects of care. The PT collaborates with patient(s) and families in determining, implementing and evaluating appropriate rehabilitation strategies. You will participate in a variety of interprofessional teams to build awareness, enrich supports and engage in quality improvement; partnering with healthcare providers, patients, families and other stakeholders to advance services for their clients. You will contribute to quality improvement and their professional community; participates in peer mentoring; and supervises students. You may provide clinical supervision to Therapy Assistants, Therapy Aides and Provisional Physiotherapists.
Bachelor's degree in Physiotherapy from an accredited university program. Current registration with the College of Physiotherapists of Alberta.
Completion of Master's degree in Physiotherapy from an accredited university program or bachelor's degree in Physiotherapy from an accredited university program with equivalent experience. Active Heart and Stroke Foundation Basic Life Support (BLS) certification by start date. Empathy and compassion: a deep understanding of the functional, cognitive and emotional needs of patients with cancer. Demonstrated strong interpersonal and communication skills. Demonstrated effective time management and organization skills. Intermediate computer skills in Microsoft office suites (Outlook, Word, Excel, MS teams). New graduates of a recognized Physiotherapy program are encouraged to apply. In addition to a competitive rate of pay, AHS currently has a Remote Retention Allowance in place to an annual maximum of $3,000. This allowance is non-pensionable and is payable on an hourly basis for all hours paid at the basic rate of pay.
Alberta Aids to Daily Living (AADL) Authorizer. Minimum 1 year Physiotherapy experience within the last 3 years in clinical environment (inpatient, outpatient, acute care or rehabilitation setting). Oncology and/ or palliative experience. Experience with EMR Epic/Connect care. Experience providing physical therapy in an interdisciplinary team, including therapy assistants. Experience providing combined decongestive therapy for lymphedema. Experience providing virtual care.
