Description
The HPV Primary Project Manager will lead project partners in the pre-implementation planning for the transition to HPV primary screening. This role encompasses a wide range of responsibilities, including updating the business case and clinical practice guidelines, developing educational resources, enhancing program communication, engaging stakeholders, and managing change. The Project Manager will also support the project’s steering committee as well as various sub-committees and working groups, oversee the planning and development of all project activities, including the creation of the project plan, timelines, meeting facilitation, provide leadership throughout all stages of the project, guiding the team’s workflow to meet project deliverables and milestones. This position requires a strong ability to lead cross-functional teams, navigate complex health system dynamics, and manage the complexities of implementing a new screening methodology across Alberta's health system. The Project Manager will be essential in driving the project forward, maintaining clear communication, and ensuring that all aspects of the project are aligned with health system objectives and grant priorities.
The HPV Primary Project Manager will lead the pre-implementation planning project under the Canadian Partnership Against Cancer (CPAC) funding, aimed at transitioning Alberta's Cervical Cancer Screening Program (ACCSP) to HPV primary screening as the primary method for cervical cancer screening. The goal of this project is to ensure operational readiness across the health system and its stakeholders, facilitating the adoption of HPV primary screening across Alberta. Key Responsibilities: 1. Business Case Development: Collaborate with laboratory, economics, finance teams, and other stakeholders to develop a comprehensive business case aimed at securing policy and funding approvals from Alberta Health Services (AHS) and Alberta Health. 2. Clinical Practice Guidelines Updates: Coordinate the updates to cervical screening clinical practice guidelines, ensuring alignment with new HPV primary screening protocols. 3. Awareness and Education: Lead the development of educational resources and awareness campaigns about HPV primary screening for eligible populations, primary care providers, and colposcopists and other health system stakeholders. 4. Database & IT System Optimization: Facilitate optimization of clinical IT systems for HPV result management and design an effective communication strategy for healthcare providers and patients. 5. Implementation Planning: Develop a comprehensive HPV primary screening implementation plan, ensuring alignment with stakeholders’ needs and provincial health priorities. 6. Community Engagement: Co-host community engagement sessions with priority populations to ensure the program meets the unique needs of diverse groups. 7. Leadership: Lead working groups in the development of operational documents, reporting, and evaluation plans to achieve project deliverables.
Clinical background with a minimum of a master's degree in public health or related field and at least 5 years' experience in health services planning or coordination, system design, writing technical briefs (briefing notes, business case), or program management. Equivalencies of education and experience will be considered.
Proven leadership abilities with a strong track record of guiding teams to success. Able to work independently. Exceptional communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to connect effectively with diverse audiences/stakeholders. Highly organizational and Well-developed project management skills, overseeing multiple projects and services concurrently. Strong critical thinking and problem-solving capabilities, adept at analyzing and resolving challenges. Experienced in fostering collaboration within interdisciplinary teams and engaging a wide range of stakeholders Skilled in addressing complex health issues and leading change initiatives to achieve desired outcomes in service delivery Expertise in working with priority populations and tailoring solutions to meet their unique needs. Consistently committed to both professional growth and personal development. Knowledgeable in applying best practices and leveraging internal and external business insights to enhance stakeholder engagement and service delivery.
Skilled in change management, with a track record of guiding teams through transitions and improvements. Operational experience in public health, public policy or health administration is a valuable asset. Adept at working with multiple provincial-level committees, contributing to policy development and strategic initiatives. Highly flexible and creative, with a strong ability to adapt quickly to evolving environments and challenges.
