Drayton Valley has an exciting opportunity for a Registered Nurse (RN) in their active rural hospital. In this position you will be for providing care in our 32 Acute Care beds and 24 hour emergency room, providing comprehensive health care services for patients. The facility also includes community outpatient programs such as endoscopy, rehabilitation services, dialysis, cancer care centre, laboratory and diagnostic imaging. Working within a multidisciplinary team of compassionate and dedicated health care professionals, as a RN on the Acute care team you will utilize your critical thinking and problem solving skills to provide direct patient and family centered care to clients across the life span. You will be responsible for the assessment, planning, implementation and evaluation of safe, quality care following policies and guidelines of Alberta Health Services. You will be expected to demonstrate a professional and positive attitude with excellent communication while prioritizing multiple demands. You accept responsibility for continuing competencies through ongoing professional development, including participation in education programs, and continuous improvement activities. Drayton Valley is located in the Central Zone, just 133 km southwest of Edmonton and 172 km northwest of Red Deer. In and around the area are a library, movie theatre, bowling alley, camping areas, 6 golf courses, and a ski hill. The Omniplex encompasses three multi-purpose recreation facilities, all under one roof. Conveniently located in the heart of Lions West Valley Park, the Omniplex is surrounded by five baseball diamonds, a soccer field, the rodeo grounds, a secluded day-use park and a 40-site full-service RV Park. This position qualifies for the Canada Student Loan Forgiveness Program, which reimburses $4,000 per year (up to a maximum of 5 years) for working in the rural setting.

As a Registered Nurse (RN), you will provide a wide variety of nursing services to patients, families, communities and populations, while taking necessary steps to ensure their safety and well-being. In your role, you will utilize nursing processes, through critical thinking, problem solving and decision making, as well as teach, counsel and advocate on behalf of patients and their families. You will play a leadership role in supporting an integrated and holistic approach to patient care, health promotion and maintenance. You will provide safe, quality patient and family centered care while reflecting the shared vision and values of AHS. PLEASE NOTE: Provisional Permit Holders shall be paid $35.87/hour - $43.82/hour. Upon being entered into the register of Registered Nurses, the rate of pay shall be adjusted to the rate of pay applicable to a Registered Nurse in accordance with AHS/UNA Article 25.02(b)(i) or (ii) as applicable. Completion of an accredited nursing education program. Active or eligible for registration and practice permit with the College of Registered Nurses of Alberta (CRNA). Current Basic Cardiac Life Support - Health Care Provider (BCLS-HCP). ACLS, CTAS preferred. 1 Year Experience in Acute Care and ER.
