The Registered Nurse (RN) utilizes the nursing process, critical thinking and problem solving skills to provide care to clients across the life span. The RN ensures the development, implementation and ongoing administration of the client care plans. Patient population varies from emergency care, pre and post-operative, paediatric, seniors, palliative, labour and delivery and postpartum. The RN assesses, coordinates, supervises, administers and evaluates the provision of health services and health care resources. The Registered Nurse accepts responsibility for continuing competencies through ongoing professional development, including participation in education programs, research and continuous quality improvement activities. The RN demonstrates the ability to accurately and effectively assess client status and to take appropriate intervention measures that have significant impact on the patient’s medical condition, safety, as well as ultimate recovery. The Registered Nurse must follow Nursing standards/protocols as required in area of nursing specialty related to the job assignment. Able to balance numerous demands and conflicting priorities. Ability to work within team environment and to effectively contribute to client care planning processes and improvement in service delivery. The Registered Nurse position required physical demands include lifting, pulling and pushing, walking, standing, transferring and transporting clients and equipment up to a frequent basis.

As a Registered Nurse (RN), you will provide a wide variety of nursing services to patients, families, communities and populations, while taking necessary steps to ensure their safety and well-being. In your role, you will utilize nursing processes, through critical thinking, problem solving and decision making, as well as teach, counsel and advocate on behalf of patients and their families. You will play a leadership role in supporting an integrated and holistic approach to patient care, health promotion and maintenance. You will provide safe, quality patient and family centered care while reflecting the shared vision and values of AHS. PLEASE NOTE: Provisional Permit Holders shall be paid $35.87/hour - $43.82/hour. Upon being entered into the register of Registered Nurses, the rate of pay shall be adjusted to the rate of pay applicable to a Registered Nurse in accordance with AHS/UNA Article 25.02(b)(i) or (ii) as applicable. Completion of an accredited nursing education program. Active or eligible for registration and practice permit with the College of Registered Nurses of Alberta (CRNA). Current Basic Cardiac Life Support - Health Care Provider (BCLS-HCP). If you have not practiced as a Registered Nurse within the last five (5) years, completion of the following free courses is required: CRNA Medication Management - Chapters 1 - 4 (https://connect.nurses.ab.ca/home/%2Flearning-and-development%2Flearning-modules%2F) and the NextGenU Health Assessment Resources Certification (https://courses.nextgenu.org/course/view.php?id=271#section-0)

Current Certification in Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS). Current Certification in Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP). Minimum 2 years OBS nursing experience obtained within the past 3 year of which a minimum of 465 hours obtained in the last 6 months in an LDR. Current Fetal Health Surveillance certification. Ability to work in maternity triage. Certification in Obstetrical Triage & Acuity Scale (OTAS). N95 Fit testing. Minimum of 2 years’ experience in a busy Rural Hospital with experience in ER and Acute Care. Charge Registered Nurse experience. Experience in a day surgery unit and experience with post procedural sedation and anesthesia.
