Come and join our team at the Leduc Community Hospital! As a Respiratory Therapist I, you will be a pivotal member of the interprofessional team and works collaboratively with all disciplines. In this role, you will assess patients, develop and implement respiratory therapy care plans and monitor their progress. You will be responsible for direct patient care, and for various diagnostic and therapeutic equipment and interventions. You will collaborate with various clinical teams and groups to enhance clinical outcomes. You will provide training and assist health care providers in the use and care of respiratory equipment as well as educate patients and their families regarding diseases, medications, equipment and treatments. In this role, you will have the opportunity to gain robust experience as you will float through all of the areas of the hospital. This position requires you to work in various departments, support the respiratory therapists in all clinical areas. In this position, you will be on your feet for an extended period of time (both walking and standing), and you must be able to assist in transporting, lifting and positioning of patients. You will also be required to bend, lift, push, and pull equipment. To be successful in this position, you will have well developed leadership skills and experience, as well as excellent communication skills. Working closely with patients, your team and physicians will be an important aspect of this position, so strong interpersonal skills and ability to build relationships will be integral to your success. As a leader, you will be highly adaptive and responsive, and able to assist others with critical thinking and problem solving to ensure the success of your team.

As a Respiratory Therapist I, you will assess patients (clients, resident), develop and implement respiratory therapy care plans and monitor their progress. You will be responsible for various diagnostic and therapeutic equipment and interventions. You will collaborate with various clinical teams and groups to enhance clinical outcomes. You will provide training and assist health care providers in the use and care of respiratory equipment as well as educate patients and their families regarding diseases, medications, equipment and treatments.

Active or eligible registration with the College and Association of Respiratory Therapists of Alberta (CARTA).

Graduation from a recognized Respiratory Therapy Program. Successful completion of the National Respiratory Certification Exam as administered by the College and Association of Respiratory Therapy (CARTA) or the Canadian Society of Respiratory Therapy (CSRT). Basic Cardiac Life Support- Healthcare Provider (BCLS-HCP). A minimum of 1 year of adult critical care or emergency experience within the last five (5) years.

Previous Arterial Line insertion certification. Intubation Certification. Current Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS). Current Neonatal Resuscitation Course (NRP). Certified Respiratory Educator (CRE) or current enrollment in required courses (such as: COPD educator, Asthma educator, Chronic Disease Management). Previous experience working in medicine, surgery, or OR. Previous Experience with quality assurance initiatives within a department.
