Description
The University of Alberta Hospital is one of Canada’s leading clinical, research and teaching hospitals, treating more than 700,000 patients annually from western and northern Canada. The hospital offers a wide range of diagnostic and treatment services, including specialized services within cardiac sciences, neurosciences, surgery, medicine, renal, critical care, burns, emergency, transplant and trauma. This position is the Clinical Lead for Medicine/Bronch Suite.
As a Respiratory Therapist II, you will coordinate, monitor and assess clinical services in your assigned area. You will act as a clinical resource for daily operations, coordinating the work of therapy assessment and treatment in your service area, and assist in the development of clinical protocols. You will develop and implement respiratory therapy care plans and monitor the progress of patients (clients, residents) receiving advanced respiratory treatment. You will identify new equipment requirements, and establish and maintain adequate levels of supplies and materials for your area. You will be responsible for respiratory equipment, including but not limited to operation, procurement, maintenance, and quality assurance. You will participate in interprofessional patient, client or resident rounds, conferences and meetings where applicable.
Active or eligible registration with the College and Association of Respiratory Therapists of Alberta (CARTA).
Current BLS required. 5 years current acute care experience in a tertiary teaching hospital. You have demonstrated leadership skills, excellent communication, interpersonal and problem-solving skills, positive attitude, demonstrated initiative and are highly motivated to work independently. Current charge experience; experience preceptoring students, developing quality initiatives and implementing practice change, and active committee participant.
Current advance life support certifications specific to the role, relevant baccalaureate degree and or supervisory training/certification.
