As the Manager of Senior’s Health in Area 1 within the North zone, you'll lead communities in High Level, La Crete, and Fort Vermilion. The North Zone boasts a rich and diverse natural environment, perfect for a variety of outdoor activities. From observing wildlife to witnessing the enchanting Northern Lights, there's no shortage of breathtaking experiences. Explore the northernmost reaches of Alberta’s Rocky Mountains to uncover hidden gems away from the typical tourist spots. In addition to the wonders of nature, northern communities thrive with vibrant arts and cultural scenes, various sports teams, and diverse social opportunities catering to a wide range of interests. As the Manager, you'll need to be available for high-priority and emergency situations 24/7. Candidates must reside in Area 1 or be willing to relocate, with relocation assistance and temporary accommodations possibly provided. Northern Allowance: In addition to a competitive rate of pay, AHS currently has a Northern Allowance in place to an annual maximum of $6,300. This allowance is non-pensionable and is payable on an hourly basis for all hours paid at the basic rate of pay. Travel Expense Reimbursement: Permanent and temporary employees working in excess of one (1) year whose work sites are above the 57th parallel are also eligible to receive an annual reimbursement of personal travel expenses to an annual maximum of $1,235. Eligible employees will be reimbursed for the cost of one (1) round trip, per calendar year, to any destination within Alberta. Travel must originate from a community above the 57th parallel to any destination within Alberta and cannot be carried over.

The Manager Seniors Health is a key leadership role in the North Zone Operations and reports directly to the Director Clinical Operations. This position is responsible and accountable for providing the direction, leadership and organization over the activities of the team in the planning, delivery, and evaluation of Seniors Health services in the North Zone in support of the vision, mission and business plan of Alberta Health Services. These activities also will include the integration of various resources to carry out these activities. The position is also responsible and accountable for making key decisions and having direct leadership responsibility for establishing and contributing to the achievement of the goals of Seniors Health within North Zone. The Manager Seniors Health will develop and maintain strong working relationships with key stakeholders in order to provide leadership to the operations of Seniors Health within Area 1 in North Zone.

A minimum of a bachelor's degree in healthcare profession, healthcare management or related field. A minimum of 3 - 5 years in a management role ideally in an organization of significant size, complexity and diversity (healthcare experience an asset). A demonstrated clear pattern of professional and personal development.

Progressive leadership experience in a healthcare environment, including experience in a management role in Seniors Health operations. Effective communicator with strong organizational skills, influential skills, client focused orientation and commitment to providing quality services. Leadership skills, including demonstrated ability and comfort with decision making responsibilities, coaching and teaching, and the ability to inspire and build confidence in others. Demonstrated ability to manage change and create innovative solutions for complex and diverse issues. Ability to manage human, financial and physical resources within an operating environment. Proven ability to foster partnerships and to achieve organizational goals within an organization and ideally managing within a unionized sector. Strong track record in establishing and maintaining effective working relationships with internal and external stakeholders. Excellent analytical and decision-making skills. Ability to plan, organize and manage short and long term plans and projects and deliver customer-focused results.
