Description
Northgate adult community services addiction and mental health is seeking a Single Independent Living Support Worker (ILS Worker) to support the addiction and mental health needs of the Northgate and Northeast Community Health Center clientele. An ILS Worker will support both clients and families. The ideal candidate will have excellent knowledge of addiction and mental health diagnoses with experience providing support and guidance for these complex needs. This candidate will be able to manage and to navigate multiple demands and a high case load while working within a strong concurrent disorder team. Although Northgate Addiction and Mental Health will be the primary location, an ILS worker will support Northeast Community Health Center Addiction and Mental Health with potential to support St. Albert and Morinville, as well. Creating and sustaining independence with and for clients is a primary objective in this role. Day to Day, an ILS worker may help a client apply for housing, financial support or for the food bank. This highly engaging role will take the initiative to support independence through creative means like riding Edmonton Transit with the client so the client can practice these skills, for example. Beyond the direct client work, an ILS worker will work very well with primary clinicians on an Inter-disciplinary team including a manager, a clinical supervisor, Addiction counsellors, Mental Health Therapists and Clinicians, Nurses, Psychiatrists and administrative staff.
As a Single Independent Living Support (ILS) worker, you will be part of an interprofessional team, assisting patients (client, resident) to develop and maintain skills as identified in the care plan, associated with living independently in the community. You will provide support with preventative health care, health maintenance, quality of life, life skills coaching and connect patients to appropriate community supports. You will play a key role in providing safe, quality patient and family centered care while reflecting the shared vision and values of AHS.
Completion of Grade 12 or equivalent.
Strong professional boundaries. A minimum of 2 years supporting clients in a social services setting. Excellent knowledge of social services resources. Excellent motivation for engaging difficult to engage clients.
A diploma or degree in the social services or nursing field. Experience working with adults who may have development delays.
