Description
Reporting to the Unit Manager, as part of an interdisciplinary rehabilitation team, the Social Worker II facilitates the adjustment of clients/patients and family to the psychosocial results of mental health issues and/or developmental problems. Duties include providing client care in terms of case management, education, treatment, advocacy, resource finding, consultation and discharge planning for patients and their families within assigned programs/units. The Social Worker uses individual, family and group therapy interventions and also participates in non-client care activities including program planning, resource development, evaluation, quality improvement, research and staff development. Group facilitation and patient engagement are key aspects to being successful in this position. This position has transitioned to Recovery Alberta effective September 1, 2024. As a Social Worker II, you will be a member of an inter-disciplinary team and provides a range of social work services to patients and their families. Your services may include: psychosocial assessment, resource-based interventions, individual, group and family treatment, risk screening, counselling, case management and coordination, transition or discharge planning, and prevention, promotion and public awareness activities.
Completion of bachelor's degree in Social Work. Active or eligible for registration with the Alberta College of Social Workers (ACSW).
1 - 2 years related Child & Adolescent Mental Health experience required. BLS Level C HCP Required. NCI mandatory (courses will be provided). Must possess strong interpersonal skills and ability to function in an interdisciplinary team.
Strong skills in time management, organization and prioritization of workload. Strong knowledge of community resources. Experience with dealing with complex patient and family issues/dynamics and placement challenges preferred.
