Working under the supervision of the FSCC Manager of Addictions and Mental Health, the role of Social Worker III within Mental Health Corrections provides an exciting opportunity to deliver Mental Health Services to complex clients within a secure multi-disciplined environment. The stability offered by the correctional environment creates an exciting window of stability and motivation for many clients, providing clinicians with a unique opportunity to deliver successful interventions to clients who are most in need of Mental Health Support. Social Worker III’s primary responsibility within a correctional setting is to provide advanced client-centered Mental Health Assessment and Counseling interventions to complex clients dealing with a variety of acute and longer-term Mental Health issues. In consultation with a multidisciplinary team which includes Nurses, Nurse Practitioners, Psychologists, Psychiatrists, Pharmacists, and Correctional Officers, the Social Worker III is designated to perform the restricted activity of Psychosocial Interventions to assess and manage clients presenting with acute safety concerns. Within the dynamic environment of Corrections Mental Health, the Social Worker III is relied upon to be a team leader in the provision of advanced trauma-informed clinical interventions, while also supporting colleagues in case management and professional development. The ideal applicant will possess excellent interpersonal and emotional regulation skills in building therapeutic relationships with clients and collegial relationships with colleagues. Multiple positions available.

As a Social Worker III, you will perform either advanced level assessment and treatment or act as a clinical lead. You will work with or within teams to provide health care services for patients with complex and multidimensional medical, psychosocial, environmental and instrumental needs. You will provide advanced clinical services, consultation to the interprofessional team and patients/families and supervision of students and team members as assigned. You may also act as a clinical lead providing leadership in the planning, development, and delivery of services in a specific area, as well as staff development, quality improvement and evaluation or research activities as identified by the needs of the service area(s).

Master's degree in Social Work. Active or eligible for registration with the Alberta College of Social Workers (ACSW).

Psychosocial intervention authorization required.
