Come join the dynamic Calgary Rural Rehabilitation team! This temporary full-time Therapy Assistant opportunity is based out of the High River General Hospital, and will be focused on supporting Rehabilitation programming in the facility, as well as in the community. The Therapy Assistant provides rehab services within the High River Hospital, primarily supporting Acute Care and Long-Term Care, and will also have the opportunity to provide support to outpatient and home care services. The Therapy Assistant functions as an integral member of the inter-professional team. The High River Hospital is located 45 minutes south of Calgary and has 30 acute care beds and 50 Long Term Care beds. The multidisciplinary rehab team consists of 13 staff, supporting both the acute and LTC at the hospital as well as the emergency department, complex outpatient services, Early Hearing Detection, and home care services for High River and surrounding areas. Reporting to the Rural Allied Health Manager (Adults) the Therapy Assistant will work with our existing rehabilitation team to provide integrated rehabilitation services across the continuum of health services. The Therapy Assistant will support Occupational Therapy, Physiotherapy, and Speech Language Pathology interventions. In addition to performing your clinical roles you will be expected to foster effective relationships within the site and across our rehabilitation teams, and at time participate in quality improvement and program development initiatives within the Rural Calgary zone.

As a Therapy Assistant, you will work both individually and as part of an interprofessional team under the assignment, monitoring and evaluation of an audiologist, occupational therapist, physiotherapist, recreation therapist or speech-language pathologist. You will contribute to effective and efficient rehabilitation services including direct and indirect client care across the health care continuum (healthy living, getting better, living with illness and disability, end of life care) for all ages as well as non-client service provision. This role will require you to work effectively with internal and external partners, and display professionalism and strong ethics in both client centered care and participation in care teams. You will demonstrate evidence of reflective thinking and lifelong learning that enhances individual and team competency. You will have opportunities to use your interpersonal and clinical skills in contributing to quality improvement, program planning and student supervision.

Completion of diploma from an accredited post-secondary rehabilitation Therapy Assistant program or equivalent training may be considered.

BLS-HC certificate. At least 1 year experience (0.5 FTE or more) working as a TA in acute and /or LTC setting.

Working knowledge of wheelchair modifications and small equipment maintenance. Previous experience working as a therapy assistant in long term care setting. Previous experience working as a therapy assistant in an acute care setting. Connect Care trained. Experience supporting a multi-disciplinary team.
