Alliance Academy: Soccer Curriculum Course
The ADSB Alliance Academy is a paired programming model scheduled every morning in Semesters One and Two (based on specific academy). The first credit course integrates sports-specific skills development and healthy living with the Healthy Living and Personal and Fitness Activities credit at the Grade 9 or 10 level, based on the student's grade. This program includes on-ice, on-field, or on-court training, along with dryland training, fitness, and nutrition. The second, paired credit course for grade 9 students, features activities designed and tailored to a sport-specific context to align with student interests. Grade 10 students will access the Alliance Academy: Sport-Specific Curriculum Course which is an ADSB developed curriculum that includes the following topics: fitness, nutrition, substance use/abuse, healthy relationships, sport appreciation and specialty topics, sport psychology, coaching/refereeing, video analysis, program promotion - elementary outreach, injury treatment and prevention, and career exploration.
Depending on teacher qualifications and experiences, successful candidates will be assigned to teach specific sections within the paired programming model of the ADSB Alliance Academy. In the afternoon, the successful candidates will return to their secondary worksite and will be timetabled for one section within the school program. Experience in coaching, training, or participation in the specific sport will be considered valuable assets.
This position will be reviewed annually for possible extension, subject to enrolment and budget.
