The Anglophone North School District is now accepting applications for Behaviour Intervention Mentor .

This is professional and mentoring work in the planning and provision of services and activities to directly assist school teams in supporting students with challenging behaviour such that it does not impede the teaching and learning process in the classroom.

Working under the umbrella of Education Support Integrated Service Delivery, the Mentor assists school personnel in the provision of direct services to students through evidence-based interventions and strategies to accomplish the desired end. It is expected that such strategies will lead to development of social skills, communication skills, self-esteem and resilience of students involved.

Duties will also include providing training to school personnel in such areas as conflict management, anger management, observation techniques and teaching social skills.

Work will also consist of developing strategies to keep students' retention to promote positive social and communication skill development in students, as well as support the school team in developing positive learning environment initiatives. Work may also include conducting individual or group interventions, support teachers in behaviour management and collaborate with various professionals in the school system and in the community, such as teachers, school psychologists, social workers, probation officers and mental health professionals.

The Mentor may participate in case management and case conferencing in the development of intervention plans for behaviour management plans.

Other related duties may be assigned as necessary.

Qualifications:

Graduation from university at the bachelor level in psychology, social work or education with specific knowledge regarding behavioural and mental health challenges.

Knowledge of positive support, behaviour management strategies, applied behaviour analysis and crisis intervention is desirable.

An equivalent combination of training and experience may be considered.

Additional training in applied behavior analysis is considered an asset.

A valid driver's license is required.

This is an open competition; however, in accordance with the New Brunswick Union of Public and Private Employees Collective Agreement, should unionized employees under this bargaining group apply, employees shall be selected based on skill, ability and qualifications.
