Job Summary

The Team
Join the Rocky Mountain District, an established and energetic team dedicated to balancing office and field-based work to make a meaningful impact. With 3 departments spanning 3 locations, our team of 3 excluded managers, 5 supervisors, and 30 full-time staff collaborates with Area Managers, Development Services, and Administrators to plan and execute critical projects that enhance safety and efficiency for the travelling public.

The Role
As the District Technician, you will work closely with the Program Manager, District Manager, and Operations Managers to plan and deliver impactful projects that enhance safety and mobility for the public. This position offers an exciting blend of technical skills, stakeholder engagement, and both field and office responsibilities, allowing you to make tangible differences in the communities you serve.

Qualifications:
Education and Experience Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree from a recognized institute of technology in Civil Technology, Natural Resources, Program Management, Construction, or Engineering or related field and a minimum of one (1) year of related experience*; OR
  • Diploma from a recognized institute of technology in Civil Technology, Natural Resources, Program Management, Construction, or Engineering or related field and a minimum of three (3) years of related experience*; OR equivalent education and experience; OR
  • High School graduation or equivalent (GED), and a minimum of five (5) years related experience* equivalent education and experience; OR
  • An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.
  • Must have a valid Class 5 BC Driver’s Licence.

*Related experience must include the following:

  • Experience in highway operations, construction supervision, and/or maintenance.
  • Experience in managing projects and/or project components (such as: procurement processes, resourcing and technical requirements).
  • Experience with contract administration.

Preference may be given to applicants with the following:

  • Experience in program development, budgeting and financial forecasting.
  • Experience with District Program Management and Construction Management and Supervision.

PROVISOS:

  • May be required to travel.
  • Occasional overnight stays required.

This position can be based out of any of the location(s) listed above.
Flexible work options are available; this position may be able to work up to 2 days at home per week subject to an approved telework agreement.
