The Ministry of Emergency Management and Climate Readiness (EMCR) is the lead coordinating agency in the provincial government for all emergency management activities. As such, EMCR’s mission is to be responsible to British Columbians for leading the management of provincial level emergencies and disasters and supporting other authorities within their areas of jurisdiction. EMCR works directly with local governments, First Nations, provincial ministries and agencies, federal departments, other jurisdictions, industry and volunteers in hazard mitigation, preparedness, response and recovery.
Reporting to the Manager, Strategic HR, the SHR Coordinator provides a full range of personnel and hiring services to EMCR. The position acts as an information linkage between EMCR employees and the BC Public Service Agency and provides advice to managers and employees regarding a wide range of human resources policies and procedures. The role is also responsible for the administration of the staffing process and streamlining of HR processes.
Job Requirements:
Education & Experience
- Post-secondary training/education (certificate, Diploma or Degree) in human resources or related field; AND
- A minimum of one (1) year experience working in an administrative role in a professional office environment involving aspects of human resource management; OR
- An equivalent combination of education and related experience may be considered (i.e. Secondary school (high school) diploma or graduation certificate and three (3) years experience).
- Experience developing and implementing tracking and monitoring systems.
- Experience drafting, formatting, and proofreading a variety of documents and materials.
- Experience in working with various computer applications and databases.
Preference may be given to applicants with one (1) or more of the following:
- Experience supporting BC Public Service’s recruitment life cycle.
- Human resources work experience within a public sector, unionized work environment.

About this Position:
Flexible work options are available; this position may be able to work from home a few days a week subject to an approved Telework Agreement.
This position can be based in any of the following Ministry of Emergency Management & Climate Readiness offices: Kamloops, Nelson, Prince George, Saanichton, Smithers, Surrey, and Victoria.
This is a temporary opportunity until December 19, 2025. This temporary opportunity may be extended or become permanent.
An eligibility list may be established to fill future temporary and permanent vacancies.
Employees of the BC Public Service must be located in BC at the time of employment.
