Job Summary


The Team
The Beneficiary and Diagnostic Services Branch is a dynamic, established team responsible for key healthcare services, including eligibility, premiums, and various assistance programs. The team works closely with advisory committees like Guidelines and Protocols Advisory Committee (GPAC) to create clinical guidelines that enhance the quality of care across BC. Their work directly contributes to a sustainable healthcare system and better outcomes for both practitioners and patients.

The Role
This is a unique and exciting opportunity to play a pivotal role in shaping the future of healthcare in BC. As a Research Officer, you'll work closely with influential partners such as Doctors of BC and the Medical Services Commission to critically review and refine clinical practice guidelines that impact patient care. Your expertise in research and analysis will help drive evidence-based recommendations that improve clinical practices both locally and internationally. This position offers the chance to directly influence how physicians interact with patients, making a real difference in the quality of healthcare. Qualifications:
Education and Experience Requirements
• Master’s Degree in research focused field e.g. biology, health sciences or other relevant discipline to the work and 3 years of related experience.
• Bachelor’s Degree in a related research focused field e.g. biology, health sciences or other relevant discipline to the work and 5 years of related experience; OR
• Diploma in public administration, business administration, health administration, law, economics, or a related field and 6 years of related experience; OR
• Any combination of education and 7 years of related experience.

Related progressive experience must include each of the following:
• Experience in research and literature reviews with a focus on developing clinical research or practice guidelines.
• Experience conducting research and data analysis including major research projects.
• Experience in project management and group facilitation.

Preference may be given to candidates with the following:
• Master’s Degree in research focused field e.g. biology, health sciences or other relevant discipline to the work and a minimum of 3 years of related experience.
• One year experience in the BC healthcare system such as a medical practice or health system environment. This may include working with and participating and chairing medical committees.
• One year experience in developing, implementing, promoting and evaluating clinical practice guidelines.
• Applicants who identify as Indigenous (First Nations, Métis or Inuit).

About this Position:
Flexible work options are available; this position may be able to work from home a few days a week subject to an approved telework agreement.
