FOR THE FOLLOWING TEACHING POSITION

COMMENCING JULY 3, 2024

TEMPORARY ELEMENTARY INTERMEDIATE SUMMER SCHOOL TEACHER

LOCATION: East Ridge Community School, Owen Sound

REPORTS TO: Summer School Coordinator - Lisa Russell

DURATION: Teachers can teach one of the following sessions:

Session 1: Commencing July 3, 2024 and ending July 17, 2024

Session 2: Commencing July 18, 2024, and ending August 1, 2024

REMUNERATION: $42.86 subject to increase (inclusive of vacation and statutory pay, per the current OSSTF Collective Agreement)

POSITION SUMMARY:

The summer school program is committed to providing quality education for every student in a safe and caring learning environment. As an intermediate summer school teacher, you will provide leadership and direct teacher support to a number of Grade 7 and 8 students from across the district.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Teaching assignments will include supporting learning recovery through instruction of the Grade 7 and 8 literacy and/or math curriculum

Assessment, evaluation and reporting of student achievement

Delivery and support of STEAM activities

Supporting transition of Grade 8 students to secondary

Other duties as assigned

QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE:

A teacher in good standing with the Ontario College of Teachers; and,

Intermediate qualifications required

Math qualifications and/or reading qualifications preferred

ASSETS:

Special Education qualifications an asset

Experience using Office 365, the Virtual Learning Environment, Brightspace

Strong communication and class management skills

An understanding of effective learning, teaching, and assessment strategies

Excellent leadership, communication, and organizational skills

JOB REQUIREMENTS:

Eligible to work in Canada; and,

Clean vulnerable sector police check.

Courses will only run if qualified teachers are available, and an average minimum class size can be established.

Teachers may apply to teach in one or both sessions.
