Description
The successful applicant will work in compliance with all relevant and applicable legislation and Hospital Policies and Procedures, will practice the Bluewater Health Standards of Performance Excellence and will fulfill their role within the Attendance Support Program parameters. The successful applicant will also possess effective communication and interpersonal skills, will have the ability to work independently and as part of a team, and will have strong attention to detail and accuracy.

• Post-secondary education in Business Administration, Accounting or Finance required
• CPA designation or actively working towards CPA accounting designation preferred
• At least 5 years accounting experience in a hospital or health care setting preferred
• Understanding of MIS / OHRS preferred
• Demonstrated ability to apply critical thinking, problem solving, decision making, and prioritization skills required
• Excellent computer skills with intermediate proficiency in the use of Microsoft Excel and the ability to create financial spreadsheets required
• Ability to meet deadlines, complete tasks with minimal supervision, set work priorities and work with varied interruptions required
• Strong analytical skills with attention to detail required
• Strong verbal and written communication skills, along with the ability to collaborate with others and work in a fast-paced team environment required
• High attention to detail required
• Payroll processing experience preferred
• Experience working with Great Plains preferred
• Experience working with AlayaCare preferred
• Strong knowledge of Canadian public sector accounting standards preferred
• Process monthly journal entries
• Reconciliation of balance sheet accounts
• Monthly financial statement preparation and variance analysis
• Preparation of annual audit working papers and liaison with external auditors
• Coordinate and prepare the annual budget and CAPS submission when required
• Preparation of Ministry of Health or Ontario Health reporting requirements
• Other related duties as assigned
