About the Position:
Fitters are responsible for the welding, layout, fitting, and fabrication of various custom metal projects. They use technical skills, drawings, schematics, specific welding processes and other documentation to maintain quality and meet company standards.
Hours of Work:
Day Shift: 6:00 AM to 4:30 PM (Monday - Thursday) 40 Hours Per Week
Afternoon Shift: 4:30 PM to 2:30 AM (Monday - Thursday) 40 Hours Per Week
What will you be doing:
- Work in compliance with the provisions of the Act, regulations, and all applicable legislation.
- Follow Cambridge Pro Fab Inc.'s policies and procedures.
- Use or wear the equipment, protective devices or clothing that is required to be used or worn.
- Operate equipment in a safe and professional manner and maintain a clean, organized work area.
- Promote safe work practices.
- Operate plasma cutter and Oxy-Acetylene torch safely with minimal cleaning and precise accuracy.
- Accountable for the proper fit of assigned work within Cambridge Pro Fab or customer tolerances (typically within 1/16” over 3’).
- Fitting parts/all types of panels that have been assigned (may be required to lift steel by hand, with overhead crane and/or forklift) ensuring accuracy of all assemblies, sub-assemblies for custom applications.
- Clear understanding of welding, manufacturing prints, and fit process (layout, Q/A checks, fit, QA checks).
- Holds required FCAW, GTAW, GMAW all positions tickets in both stainless and carbon applications.
- Complete paperwork as required.
- Accountable for the size, quality and efficiency of welding performed and make required repairs.
- Grind spatter and blend all materials from the welding process, replacing parent metal as required.
- Understand and interpret welding symbols, applying the proper weld to each part as described on the blueprint.
- Clean own welds with grinder, scraper, wire brush, and/or chipping hammer.
- Fits any job (flat, round, square to round or custom fabrication), in any position, as assigned by the Plant Manager and/or Supervisor. This may include, but is not limited to working at heights, working within confined spaces and fitting in some areas for a prolonged period of time. The ability to be flexible and agile for fitting in any position is required.
- Rigging and crane use. Able to use multiple crane hoist.
- Operate other task related tools and equipment safely including but not limited to: overhead cranes, ladders, chipping hammers, portable power tools, rose buds, clamps, and wrenches.
- Visually inspect welds and preps to ensure they meet standards and/or specifications (QA checks).
- Must meet CWB and company standards for quality.
- Ability to learn and apply new teachings, obtaining weld certifications as required.
- Occasional insulation installation may be required.
- Keep up with a fast-paced environment, flexibility to change jobs as required to suit customer or company requirements.
- Work with new hires, training and developing their skill set.
- Maintain adequate attendance.
- Maintain a consistent line of communication between yourself and team lead.
- Look for ways to improve safety, quality, and fitting process.
- Perform other duties outside the normal scope of your daily tasks for the betterment of the company.
