THE ROLE

The Arena and Operation Supervisor plays an important role for Personnel Support Programs. They support both the Wurtele Arena and outdoor sporting facilities for our military members and their families.

You will oversee the day-to-day operations of the arena, outdoor facilities such as sports fields, assist in budgeting and acquiring supplies, ensure safety and emergency procedures are followed, ensure compliance with the Health & Safety Program, and potentially act as a Representative or member of a local NPF Committee. You will also help in training junior staff in their roles, working as one team with the shared goal of simplifying and improving the quality of life for our military members.

QUALIFICATIONS NEEDED

Education, Certifications and Licenses

High school diploma AND several years of experience in a related field
Current CPR and Standard First Aid certification
Valid Driver’s Licence (BC)

Experience

In Demonstrated Supervisory experience.

In resource administration

In operating an arena or similar facility

In ice maintenance procedures

In maintenance and lining of sports fields

In operating ice rink equipment

In operating outdoor facility maintenance equipment

Competencies

Client focus, organizational knowledge, communication, innovation, teamwork and leadership.

LANGUAGE REQUIREMENTS

English Essential / Bilingual (English and French) an asset

Reading: Functional

Writing: Functional

Oral: Functional

OTHER INFORMATION

Successful completion of the following by the end of probation period

  • RFABC - Refrigeration Safety Awareness (or similar)
  • RFABC - Ice Makers Course (or have demonstrated equivalent experience)

Perform moderate lifting, carrying, pulling and/or pushing (i.e. more than 10 lbs/4.5 kg but less than 50 lbs/23 kg).

This is an on-site position with an assigned work location.
