THE ROLEUnder the supervision of the Museum Curator, the Curatorial Assistant assists in research, storage and handling of artefacts. Prepare documents pertaining to acquisitions and maintains a temporary acquisitions register. Prepare worksheets, labels and acquisition files for each artefact in accordance with museum standards and catalogue artefacts using museum software. Assist the curator with appraising donations and assigning a fair value market as per Revenue Canada policies.
QUALIFICATIONS NEEDEDEducation, Certifications and Licenses
High school diploma AND several years of experience in Museology
OR
An acceptable combination of education, training, and experience will also be considered
Experience
in museum practices in collections management and care of artefacts
in preparing and writing reports
in historical research
in artefact documentation
in artefact labelling
in preventative conservation and storage for mixed media collections
in budget administration
