Job Summary
The Facility Maintenance Carpenter position is required to travel within the Facility Maintenance Supervisors given territory, currently covering Southern Ontario, but subject to change. Daily corrective and preventative tasks will be assigned by the foreman, however, the Carpenter position is expected to prioritize his/her own work accordingly and be able to respond immediately to any potential emergencies that arise. The FM Carpenter must be able to complete tasks both unsupervised and within a team environment.
Major Responsibilities
· Build, install, maintain and repair structures
· Read and interpret plans and drawings
· Measure, calculate and cut material, among other things
· Perform various intermittent duties such as installing flooring (e.g. carpet and vinyl tiles)
· Pour concrete, do construction work with drywall, repair ceilings and raised flooring
Working Conditions
· The role is performed in a combination of indoor or outdoor environment, in various types of weather conditions
· The role is required to wear proper safety attire (e.g. eyeglasses, safety boots, hard hat, vest with reflective stripes, respirator, or hearing protection and harnesses)
· Must be able to work at heights, on occasion and handle loads of over 44 lbs. (20 kg)
· Must have an adequate toolkit containing the necessary tools to perform their tasks
Requirements
· Valid Class G Driver’s License
· Must be physically fit and able to lift up to 50lbs.
· Must possess a red seal certification in Carpentry, or be in the process of obtaining.
· Must successfully pass CROR Canadian Rail Operating Rules, Working at Heights, Fall Arrest, Emergency First aid, CPR, and any associated safety training as required.
· Occasional travel within the territory (Southern Ontario) as required.
· Must have a thorough working knowledge of all aspects of carpentry and construction, including but not limited to - wood framing, steel framing, concrete forming and pouring, siding, flooring, door and door hardware installation and maintenance, drywall, tile work, drop ceilings, painting, blue print reading and misc. commercial and residential construction practices.
· A thorough understanding of the Ontario Building Code is required. Must be able to perform project estimates, layout and all related work associated with construction best practices.
· Experience in HVAC, Electrical, Plumbing and building envelope science preferred. Must be able to qualify for a CROR Engineering Rules Certification within a reasonable time frame.
· Must also pass certification in Emergency First Aid, CPR, Fall Arrest, Working at Heights, and Aerial Platforms. Must be willing and able to work at height, work in inclement weather and perform overtime as required.

The incumbent is not required to attend any training.
