Description
The Material Handler is responsible for handling material and supply distribution as well as request, order, pick, count, pack, receive, inspect, store, return, and issue materials from and within the warehouse. The incumbent moves materials, including unloading, loading, delivering to, and staging materials in appropriate locations.
Major Responsibilities· Process paper and electronic transactions related to materials
· Handle and control administration and physical movement of tools
· Issue, log, inspect, track calibration, and store, as needed
Working Conditions· Must be available to work in a combination of office and outdoor environment in various types of weather conditions
· Must be able to operate forklift trucks, as required
· Must be able to lift and carry 50 lbs
Requirements· Must have a valid Forklift Operator’s card or pass a Forklift Operation test within the qualification period
· Valid Driver’s License
· Knowledge of regulations concerning transportation and handling dangerous goods
· Must comply with mechanical rules and policies
· Must have knowledge and demonstrate proficiency in material management processes and procedures
· Must have comply with Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) requirements
· Communicates with impact
· Collaborates with others and shares information
· Must be able to display ability to perform duties outlined safely during the probationary period to retain employment
· Workplace Hazardous Materials Information System (WHMIS) training and pass a proficiency test*
· Must have keyboarding skills and prior knowledge as well as experience with computer systems*
· Forklift experience*
*Any experience/education/skills/knowledge for these above would be considered as an asset
TrainingThe incumbent is required to attend forklift training whether the candidate has prior experienced and training. Additionally, the position attends the Workplace Hazardous Materials Information System (WHMIS) course.
