About this opportunity:
Reporting to the Senior Manager, Facilities Engineering, the Field Engineer will provide mechanical engineering and process safety support to ensure safe, reliable, and productive operations of the Sunrise SAGD facility. This role will approve repair plans, provide day to day technical support on mechanical execution activities, lead operational risk assessments, create authenticated engineering deliverables for execution teams and manage a high volume of small/urgent projects.

This is a full-time employee position working a shift of 11 hours 25 mins per day, 8 days on, 6 days off, first and last day 5 hours 42 mins per day. Tuesday to Tuesday
Sunrise is located approximately 100 km northeast of the City of Fort McMurray and is a fly in/ fly out remote camp-based position.
Cenovus will provide transportation to Sunrise from designated hubs out of Calgary and Edmonton
At the Sunrise site, employees will be provided comfortable camp accommodations and recreational amenities
What you’ll do:
Provide immediate on-site technical support and expertise on facility non-routine repairs, mechanical alterations/workarounds, alternate products or materials and new equipment installations
Provide guidance and design interpretation for piping and mechanical systems in accordance with corporate specifications, governing Codes, Acts and Regulations (e.g.: ASME B31.1, ASME B31.3, CSA Z662, API) and recommended practices
Provide engineering support of work processes prescribed the corporate technical programs such as Pressure Equipment Integrity Management System (PEIMS) and Pipeline Integrity Management Program (PLIMP)
Prepare scoping packages for proposed projects: preliminary design, constructability review and validation, and cost estimating work
Participate in/facilitate operational Risk Assessments and Project Hazard Assessments and steward to the Cenovus Management of Change (MOC) process
Facilitate and approve abnormal operations and Engineer regulated job specific risk assessments to help ensure the safety of our equipment, personal and environment.
Who you are:
Our ideal candidate will have the following minimum requirements:
Legally authorized to work in Canada
Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering
Registered P. Eng and in good standing with APEGA, or EIT eligible for registration
Minimum 4 years of relevant mechanical engineering experience
Knowledge of mechanical codes for pressure vessels, pressure piping, bolted joints, tanks, and online repairs
Experience with Process Safety management systems, including risk assessment and PHA facilitation
We acknowledge the value of transferrable skills and may consider equivalent combinations of experience and education should you not meet a specific requirement.
As this position has been identified as safety sensitive, employment of a final candidate selected for this position will be conditional upon successful completion of required pre-employment medical and alcohol/drug assessments.
For this position you will be required to maintain a Class 5 driver's license, a satisfactory driving record, and adhere to the appropriate Company policies and guidelines. A driver's abstract will be one of the background checks requested in the pre-employment screening for the final candidate.
