About this opportunity:

The Laboratory Technologist will focus their talents in the oil department performing various tests specified by our clients within the requested turnaround time. Testing includes, but not limited to, Vapor Pressure, TAN, Density, various distillations, Organic Chlorides, Cloud and Pour Point, Flash Point, Karl Fisher. During times of absence in other departments within the lab the incumbent will be responsible for handling the workload in those areas. Expanded areas will be the water department and back-up for daily/weekly/monthly regulatory sampling; VOC’s fence line, sulfur stations, Refinery off gas sampling, ponds and culverts

What you’ll do:

  • Analysis of petroleum field/process oil, water and gas samples using multiple test suites

  • Working in a team environment to coordinate workload ensuring clients turnaround times are met

  • Follow all SOP’s and analytical methods set by the ASL

  • The focus will be in the oil department but must possess strong organizational skills to assist in other lab departments when required

  • Acts as the back-up to the field sampling technologist for month-end LACT mixing and passive air sampling for VOC’s and Sulfur stations

  • Drive for positive change and uphold core Cenovus values for safety and HRO (High Reliability Organization) principles

  • Follow all safety protocols set by Cenovus and the ASL

Who you are:

  • Minimum of a 2 year diploma in Chemical or Petroleum Technology

  • Minimum of 5 years work experience in the petroleum industry

  • Eligibility for certification in ACPA or ASET

  • Valid driver’s license

As this position has been identified as safety sensitive, employment of a final candidate selected for this position will be conditional upon successful completion of required pre-employment medical and alcohol/drug assessments

For this position you will be required to maintain a Class 5 driver's license, a satisfactory driving record, and adhere to the appropriate Company policies and guidelines. A driver's abstract will be one of the background checks requested in the pre-employment screening for the final candidate
