About this opportunity:

Reporting to the Manager, Alberta Thermal Development, and working with an integrated team, the Senior Development Engineer is responsible for integrating data across various functions in the Alberta Thermal Oil sands space to maintain high-quality asset development plans that enable Cenovus to operate a smarter business. The successful candidate will help build and analyze development plans and use those plans to optimize and maintain business cases for oil sands projects.

What you’ll do:

  • Collaborate with production, operations, process & forecasting teams to integrate data and assemble robust cases for decision makers

  • Create high-quality, predictive, development plan models for strategy, budget, and five-year planning purposes

  • Track, reconcile and communicate changes to team members between publications of the plan

  • Build and maintain predictive development plans consistently for the Thermal Asset for use in forecasting production, capital requirements, opex and progressing strategic alternative evaluations

  • Steward and manage the Monthly Production Review Process by facilitating multi-team workflows and clearly communicating impacts of changes

  • Assume the role of Business Opportunity Manager for select oil sands projects and facilitate multi-team workflows supporting annual programs such as Facilities Engineering Projects

Who you are:

Our ideal candidate will have the following minimum requirements:

  • Legally authorized to work in Canada

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering from a recognized institution

  • Licensed Professional, registered and in good standing, with APEGA or APEGS

  • A minimum of 8+ years of experience in Engineering or Geosciences in the Oil & Gas Industry

  • Strong understanding of Development, Reservoir, Production or Process Engineering functions

  • Knowledge in project planning & economics
