About this opportunity:

Husky Midstream General Partnership (HMGP) is currently seeking a Senior Strategy Specialist based in Calgary, reporting to the Husky Midstream Vice President. This role will be accountable for sustaining and implementing business strategy by engaging individuals and functions across the organization.

This position will collaborate across the Husky Midstream and Cenovus organizations to develop common understanding and generate alignment for a recommended path forward with respect to corporate restructuring, capital investments and A&D activities. The role will assess the corporate commodity exposures along with fundamental market outlooks to advise and used to support the strategic direction of the Husky Midstream business segments.

The preferred candidate will have a mix of technical and an eye for business and the ability to apply an informal leadership style to achieve results. This opportunity will require that the successful candidate develops an understanding of the physical and financial connections between business functions, distill sophisticated concepts into practical strategies, and facilitate effective communication across the team. They will drive a common understanding of how Husky Midstream makes money, build alignment on the primary drivers for each business, and drive strategy into tactical outcomes.

What you’ll do:

  • Drive strategy through the organization to ensure focus on tactical opportunities.

  • Develop and maintain sophisticated financial modeling to frame problems and identify key issues.

  • Leverage commercial business insight, identify the value proposition, and deliver practical recommendations.

  • Develop recommendations for capital investment and acquisition focus areas.

  • Recommend corporate structuring solutions to facilitate partner alignment and improve engagement.

  • Work closely with Husky Midstream’s commercial team to recommend and advance capital projects aligned with broad strategic objectives.

  • Monitor investment and energy industry developments and incorporate into broader strategic objectives.

  • Assist with required data analysis, interpretation and apply project management skills and tools.

  • Work cross functionally to ensure all aspects of the business are engaging in strategy development.

  • Exert influence and achieve results using informal leadership skills.

  • Facilitate communication between business operations and senior leadership with productive meetings, concise memos, and insightful presentations.

Who you are:

  • Validated experience within the oil and gas industry in dynamically more ambitious roles

  • Validated analytical and project management abilities with 10+ years of related confirmed experience.

  • CFA, Mathematical or Finance degrees would be an asset.

  • Analytical in nature with the expertise to drive and balance decision-making through a combination of analytics and strategic perspectives.

  • Validated understanding of North American energy and investment markets

  • Ability, while working with high degree of independence, to build, influence and support new initiatives and drive outcomes.

  • Demonstrated financial modelling skills.

  • Ability to interpret and concisely communicate relatively complex concepts to leadership.

  • Must be legally entitled to work in Canada.

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering or Business / Finance
