Advanced Practice Clinical Leader - Crisis Critical Care Unit 5-camh

The Centre for Addiction and Mental Health (CAMH) is seeking a full time, temporary (5 month) Advanced Practice Clinical Leader in the CYEAP Program. Reporting to the Clinical Director, as an Advanced Practice Clinical Leader you will support point-of-care staff in the implementation and evaluation of best practices in the assessment, individual and group treatment for patients with acute psychotic illnesses and concurrent substance use disorders.

The successful candidate will work collaboratively with the Acute Care/Child, Youth and Emerging Adults Program leadership teams to support inpatient point-of-care teams and models of care. You will role model clinical practice in complex care situations; engage in direct care activities for complex and high risk clients; lead development of the unit’s groups programming; support inter-professional collaborative care, academic and research opportunities; promote the implementation and audit of documentation standards; participate in or facilitate quality improvement projects and quality reviews focusing on patient safety; and supervise graduate students. Together with operational and other professional practice leaders, you will participate in program planning and evaluation; support development of care pathways to enhance patient outcomes; play an active role on internal and external committees; and serve as a clinical resource in program-level and organizational level strategic planning activities for both inpatient and outpatient services. This position provides support to clinical teams at the Queen Street site.

The successful candidate will possess a Master’s Degree in Nursing (preferred) or related field (Occupational Therapy and Social Work), and must be a registered member in good standing with their College. Only applicants with 5 or more years of inpatient experience in mental health and addiction treatment will be considered. Applicants must demonstrate an understanding of the complex psychiatric and physical health needs of this clinical population. Additional qualifications such as CNA certification in psychiatric/mental health, or other relevant certification is an asset. Current CPR/AED certification is required. Eligibility for cross-appointment at the University of Toronto is also required. The successful candidate will have demonstrated the ability to provide professional practice leadership; the ability to challenge and motivate others; a commitment to enhancing academic and research endeavours; experience in leading change and the ability to provide advanced clinical care in a culturally diverse environment. Previous advanced practice/administrative/academic scholarship is an asset. The candidate will also have excellent interpersonal, communication, negotiation, teaching and computer skills. Bilingualism (French/English) or proficiency in a second language is considered an asset.
